Mammoth Eyes — Visor
A modern interpretation of ancestral Arctic snow goggles, moving from the traditional protective form into a softer oval silhouette. The narrow horizontal slits remain at the center of the design, connecting the piece back to its original Arctic function.
Made by hand to order. Delivery is arranged with you personally after your order.
- Material
- Hand-carved fossil mammoth ivory set in a brass frame, finished with leather details. The mammoth tusk comes from the permafrost of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), where it has been preserved in the frozen ground for tens of thousands of years. As the ground naturally thaws and erodes during the Arctic summer, ancient tusks can become exposed and recovered from the land.
- Size
- Comfortable and balanced fit, shaped to sit naturally on the face, adjustable.
- Craftsmanship
- The lenses, nose pads and temple details are individually carved and shaped by hand. Natural variations in the mammoth ivory remain visible, making every element of the piece unique.
- Characteristics
- A wearable collector piece exploring a lighter, more eyewear-like silhouette. Oval mammoth ivory lenses soften the shape, while the horizontal slits keep the strong visual identity of traditional Arctic snow goggles.
Visor explores the space between ancestral eye protection and contemporary eyewear — keeping the original visual language while allowing the shape, material and way of wearing it to evolve.
